I was looking this youtube tutorial (Java Game Programming - Develop a Brick Breaker ) :
The problem here is that there is no OOP at all and the code is implemented in one big messy class.
It uses timer to implement the game loop. The interesting part is the use of a two - dimensional array
to render the bricks and handle collision.
I translated it all , with some improvements(i hope) particularly in the collision detection , in the first version of the JGDF
(the one at page 148) :
